Dog License Notice: Important Annual Reminder

Dog Control Officer: Karen Wilson (518-775-7633)

Springtime is an ideal time to verify your dog's license status or register your pet for the first time. Dog licenses serve multiple important purposes:

  • Identification: The license tag helps identify your dog if it becomes lost or stolen
  • Public Health: Licensing helps prevent the spread of rabies from dogs to humans
  • Reunification: Licenses help animal shelters reunite lost dogs with their owners
Legal Requirements

New York State law requires all dogs 4 months and older to be registered and wear a current dog license tag.

Important Notice

Dogs without a proper license may be subject to fines. Compliance with licensing requirements is enforced by local authorities.
